Tranny Modification

After months of investigation and research into the blown transmissions, we felt we need to do our own fix. GNK Sales has been repairing motorcycles for over 20 years and have been lucky to have many dedicated trained motorcycle mechanics. We do all the machine work in house. We also consulted with several bushing and fastener companies and feel our fix is the best, most practical and fairly priced one available. This fix is not rocket scientist and our 20 years of experience fixing engines and transmissions assures you the customer that our products will not let you down. Here is what we do.

To Order, contact GNK Sales at 732-636-0816, address 77 Port Reading Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 and arrange for a date to ship your transmission to us. We need to schedule your transmission arrival if you would like it back quickly.

We rebush the gears with aluminum bronze bushings twice the hardness of factory bushinings

Add a 360 degree oil groove into this superior bushing material. One groove only because you don't want to cut down on surface area of the bushing and create a lower load capacity. Two grooves may cause oil to not remain centered in the bushing where the load is.

We true the shafts (if needed)

Repair the secondary port oil pressure leak with a new "O" ring design. Looking at the cassette to the left just below hole you will see the oil port, this port feeds the secondary output shafts and there is NO WAY THAT THIS PORT DOENS'T LEAK IF LEFT AS IS! We ask that you let us do this fix for you and assure the output shafts of remaining under oil pressure.

We install custom correctly fitted spiral clips to eliminate excessvie side clearance. We also recommend adding the oil pickup tube ($55.00) and increasing oil pump pressure to 75psi. This is all that is necessary to compliment this fine transmission. Anyone who thinks the oil pressure (no "O" Ring )problem is not an issue must seriously look at our fix. This shows the special attention and commitment we have for Excelsior Henderson motorcycles.

Look to the right and see the beautiful job we did with these Super X tranny gears.

Further Recommendations for these awesome machines

Add the primary oil pickup tube

Use synthetic oil, 10-40, 15-50. The reason for using a lower weight oil is to allow quick oiling during warmup. If you live in the south where temperatures rise consistantly above 85 degrees and reach beyone 95 then of course use a higher weight.

On bikes with serial numbres below 1147, increase your oil pump pressure by adding a 3/32 inch spacer (use a #6 split washer) in the plunger.

Now, guess what,
