things to check on your X Before you ride

These are the things EH wanted us to check everyday before demos took place again

1.     Throttle Body Bracket. You can check it by holding the air box, and gently tipping it in different directions to see if it’s broken.  If it is, also replace the O-Rings which seal the throttle body to the cylinders.

2.     Motor Mounts. Use a 7/8” wrench and tighten these on a regular basis.  If these get loose at all, it creates more vibration.

3.     Oil.  Check your oil using the service bulletin I’ve got posted.  These motors run hot, and do consume oil, use Synthetic.

4.     Crown Nut on the triple tree.  This should be at 55lbs.  Any less also takes away from the ride.

One last thing, although I know I only said 4, would be belt tension.  There are 2 ways to do this, By feel if you hand has a built in gauge in it…(: or using a gauge. To tight a belt will cause the bike to vibrate, and possibly take out the motor mounts as well.

The other way to check  the belt tension is by sitting on the bike to pre-load the rear shock. With me on it, 10lbs of pressure should deflect the belt about ¼”.

Hope this helps,

Paul
