About a month ago I ordered a new switch as my switch was getting a "gravel"
like feeling when turning it on and off. At Sturgis the on/off part of the
switch disappeared one evening and I had to run the rest of the week with a 1/2"
rubber band cris-crossed over the key knob to hold it in the on position while
running. More embarrassing than anything - "You're holding your
Excelsior-Henderson together with a rubber band!" were the comments. Anyway, my
new switch hasn't shown yet and I was getting tired of the rubber band thing so,
I purchased an FXR switch part # 71425-77T for $15 plus tax. It took a bit to
install but it's working just fine If you weren't an owner, you'd never know it
wasn't OEM. Wiring as follows: E-H Orange/Blue(battery) to "B" post, E-H Red/White(lights
and dash) to "IG" post, E-H Red/Gray(fuel pump and passing lights) to "L" post.
William #799 had installed one on his SuperX before going to Sturgis and it
worked and looked just fine. So, that's where I got the idea. He did use a
different one than I did. He used FXR switch part # 71441-94 which comes with
wires rather than posts, but it cost him quite a bit more than I paid for the
one I bought. The wiring he did on his was E-H Orange/Blue to HD Red, E-H
Red/White to HD Red/Gray, E-H Red/Gray to HD Red/Black. |
